Match Report

Stage 11 of the 2025 Vuelta a España brought the race into the Basque Country, with a 157.4km loop around Bilbao featuring seven categorised climbs, including repeated ascents of the Alto del Vivero and the brutally steep Alto de Pike.

Double Olympic mountain bike cross-country champion Thomas Pidcock launched a series of attacks on the brutal slopes of the Alto de Pike, but Jonas Vingegaard held firm, reeling him back each time to secure his lead and keep the red jersey. Following protests in the city centre, the organisers decided to stop the race three kilometres from the finish to protect the riders' safety.
