Two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard launched a brave attack on the final climb of the stage with just over 10km to go.

Joao Almeida and Tom Pidcock, in hot pursuit, came close to catching him before the Dane found another gear.

Vingegaard sprinted to victory with a 24-second advantage over Pidcock in second place and Almeida third across the line.

The Dane edged closer to general classification leader Torstein Træen.
